  1. Morris Hersrud

    <span style="font-size: medium;">Morris A. Hersrud, Naples, FL died Sunday, March 31st at Naples Community Hospital. Morry was born on April 9, 1920 in White Butte, South Dakota. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1943 with a degree in business. Morry married Marian Mathews on October 16, 1943 in Santa Ana, CA. Morry was a 2nd lieutenant in the 301st bomb group of the 13th Air Force based in Foggia, Italy. He was a lead navigator and flew 50 missions over the Alps in B17&rsquo;s, receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross. Following WWII he and Marian moved to Lemmon, SD to join his father&rsquo;s business. Morry and his brother Gordon owned farm equipment and automobile dealerships in North and South Dakota. Morry served on many boards, church councils and fund raising activities during his life. He served as the SD President and the National Director of Jaycees, the President of the Lemmon Chamber of Commerce and Lions Club and the director of the Lemmon Development Corporation. The family moved to Sturgis, SD in 1977 and Morry, son David and son-in-law Arnie opened the Hersrud Companies in Sturgis and Belle Fourche. He served as president of the SD Automobile Dealers Association and in 1984 received the Time Quality Dealer Award. In addition Morry served on the board of The South Dakota Foundation, as President of Sturgis Industrial Expansion Corporation and the SBA Advisory Council. Morry and Marian were snowbirds in Naples for many years and became permanent residents in 2006.</span>
