    <span style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: 'Book Antiqua';">STURGIS, S.D. - Four people are running for the three available seats in the Meade School Board election on June 4. Vying for the three three-year terms are Bryce Richter, Sturgis, Ezra Hays and Curtis Nupen, both of Piedmont, and Robert Burns, the incumbent, from Black Hawk. Amy Conover of Sturgis had filed petitions but recently withdrew her name because she has been hired by the district as a special education teacher.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">&nbsp; </span>The other two incumbents, Wanda Blair of Vale and Nancy Richter of Enning, are not running for re-election.</span>

    Nullification fever is spreading across the rural counties along the Mason-Dixon Line, with Cecil, Harford and Carroll counties passing resolutions in the last month declaring their view that Maryland's new gun control law is unconstitutional. Cecil's council kicked off the trend with a resolution stating its intent that no county resources be used to enforce the law.
