  1. Four candidates running for spot on Meade 46-1 School Board

    <span style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: 'Book Antiqua';">STURGIS, S.D. - Four people are running for the three available seats in the Meade School Board election on June 4. Vying for the three three-year terms are Bryce Richter, Sturgis, Ezra Hays and Curtis Nupen, both of Piedmont, and Robert Burns, the incumbent, from Black Hawk. Amy Conover of Sturgis had filed petitions but recently withdrew her name because she has been hired by the district as a special education teacher.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">&nbsp; </span>The other two incumbents, Wanda Blair of Vale and Nancy Richter of Enning, are not running for re-election.</span>

  5. Sturgis student built motorcycle wins additional awards at motorcycle show

    <span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">STURGIS, S.D. - The Sturgis Buffalo Chip is pleased to announce that the award winning Student Build Challenge motorcycle has won two more awards during the 25th Annual Black Hills Motorcycle Show on April 13<sup>th</sup> and 14<sup>th </sup>at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in Rapid City, SD. The Sturgis Brown High School Students who customized this bike took home first place in the Full Custom Bagger category and Best Paint Overall at the 25<sup>th</sup> annual Black Hills Motorcycle Show. The already recognizable one-of-a-kind motorcycle previously won first place for the Full Custom Bagger Open Class classification and Overall Best Display at the 26<sup>th</sup> annual Donnie Smith Show.     <span style="font-size: medium;">STURGIS, S.D. - The Sturgis Buffalo Chip is pleased to announce that the Student Build Challenge bike, customized by Sturgis Brown High School Students, won multiple awards during the 26<sup>th</sup> annual Donnie Smith show March 23 and 24 in St. Paul, MN. The nation&rsquo;s top student built bike took first place for the Full Custom Bagger classification in the Open Class and also won Overall Best Display. The award-winning bike will be auctioned off on August 5, 2013 at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip in support of the annual Legends Ride event. House Bill 1087 says school boards, if they choose to take part in the School Sentinel Program, must coordinate with local law enforcement and with the Division of Criminal Investigation to develop safety procedures and provide weapons training to employees who want to carry firearms.</span>
