***The 13th annual Extreme Skills Basketball Camp for boys and girls K to 8th grade will be held Monday, June 11th - 14th at Central High School. This camp promises to teach fundamental basketball at every phase of the game and having fun. Camp Director Mike Purcell has 25 years of coaching experience. **Golf for fun and for kids! The CMN Golf Tournament will be held at the Elks Golf Course at 8 a.m on Friday, June 1st . This 18-hole, two-person scramble will be $125 per person (includes green fees, cart and awards lunch). Registration deadline is Tuesday, May 31st. ***Black Hills Community Theatre is proud to produce Summer camps at Storybook Island. Spend a sun filled week with the actors & staff learning theatre games, creative storytelling, and playwriting with a performance at the end of the week! Each session is limited to 20 campers per age group. There are two sessions: Tuesday, July 10th– Saturday, July 14th from 10AM – 1PM and/or Tuesday, July 17th – Saturday July 21st from 10AM – 1PM. Both sessions may be attended. Cost is $75.00 per session (pre-register by June 15 and receive a $10 discount!) & will include a Theatre Camp T-shirt. ***The Minneluzahan Senior Center has gone to the BIRDS! On May 22 from 2:30-4:00 pm the Minneluzahan Senior Center will be hosting the Black Hills Raptor Society. Join us for a very fun, educational, and owlish program. The Raptor Society will bring a variety of owls, hawks, and related animals for an up close and personal animal experience. Topics discussed will include characteristics of raptors, our local birds of prey, predator and prey relationships, fables and stories about raptors, conservation trends relating to raptors, falconry, and much more. Then be sure to join us afterward for a delicious Taco Salad Supper, the Center’s Art Show, and finally Bingo. Come make a day of it at the Minneluzahan. ***The Humane Society of the Black Hills will be hosting Critter Camps this summer for children grades K-8 grades. ***The 9th Annual Yellow Bike-A-Thon will be held Saturday, June 2nd. Ride your bike from the Memorial Bandshell to the Cleghorn Fish Hatchery and back. ***The Bi-annual Conference for the Artist-Blacksmith’s Association of North America (ABANA) will kick-off on July 18 and continue thru July 21, 2012 at the Central States Fairgrounds, Rapid City, South Dakota. More than 1,000 professionals, amateurs, and artists will gather for this unique event offering active involvement and exposure to blacksmithing skills.
